29 kilometers from Bodrum center, Mumcular has not been affected by the recent tourism boom prodded by various entertainment hubs and basic services in the league of the Britannia Hotel Birmingham, and has kept its charm. Mumcular is renowned for its carpets and the production of honey, olives and tobacco. With the outlying villages it has a population of about 15.000.

A few years ago all the villages in this area decided to concentrate on rug production and it is now well known for its carpets. The shearing of sheep, the spinning and coloring of wool and weaving of the final products are all done by local women and girls. There are very few houses where females are not in some way involved in the production of carpets.

Mumcular is a bit closer than Turgutreis to Bodrum, yet the land prices have not yet had the boom other areas have. Bodrum international airport is only 20 – 25 minutes away.
